1. आपको यह जानकर बड़ी हैरानी होगी कि सर्दियों में उत्तराखंड की राजधानी देहरादून होती है और गर्मियों में गैरसैंण होती है
2. उत्तराखंड का सबसे ऊंचा शिखर नंदा देवी है जिसकी ऊंचाई 7816 m है ,नंदा देवी पर्वत चोटी भारत की दूसरी सर्वोच्च पर्वत चोटी है
3. भारत की सबसे पवित्र माने जाने वाली भारत की दो पवित्र नदियां गंगा और यमुना उत्तराखंड से ही निकलती है इसके अलावा उत्तराखंड से भागीरथी बाल गंगा नदी ऋषि गंगा मंदाकिनी अलकनंदा जैसी नदियां बहती है
4. हिंदू धर्म के 4 पवित्र धामों में से 2 धाम केदारनाथ और बद्रीनाथ उत्तराखंड में स्थित है इसके अलावा ऋषिकेश गंगोत्री यमुनोत्री हरिद्वार जैसे हिंदुओं के पवित्र धार्मिक स्थल यही है
5 . उत्तराखंड की सीमाएं नेपाल तिब्बत हिमाचल प्रदेश उत्तर प्रदेश से जुड़ी हुई है
6 . भारत का सबसे बड़ा डैम टिहरी डैम उत्तराखंड में ही स्थित है टिहरी बाँध भारत का सबसे ऊंचा बाँध है यह दुनिया के 10 सबसे ऊंचे बाँधो में से एक है जिसकी ऊंचाई 261 मीटर है|

7 . भारत का सबसे पुराना और प्रसिद्ध जिम कॉर्बेट नेशनल पार्क उत्तराखंड में स्थित है जहां हर साल लाखों लोग पर्यटक घूमने के लिए आते हैं जिम कार्बेट नेशनल पार्क को पहले रामगंगा राष्ट्रीय उद्यान के नाम से जाना जाता था लेकिन सन 1957 में मशहूर शिकारी जिम कार्बेट के नाम पर इस पार्क का नाम जिम कार्बेट नेशनल पार्क किया गया
8. अगर आप उत्तराखंड से हैं तो आपको यह जानकर बहुत गर्व होगा कि भारत में सबसे पहले परमवीर चक्र पाने वाले मेजर सोमनाथ का जन्म उत्तराखंड में हुआ था
9. 1970 में पेड़ों को बचाने के लिए चलाया गया चिपको आंदोलन सबसे पहले उत्तराखंड में ही स्टार्ट किया गया था

11. उत्तराखंड में देहरादून में स्थित बोर्डिंग स्कूल दून बोर्डिंग स्कूल भारत का सबसे प्रसिद्ध बोर्डिंग स्कूल माना जाता है जहां राजीव गांधी जैसे लोग पढ़ाई किये हैं
12. सन 1969 तक देहरादून को छोड़कर उत्तराखंड के सभी जिले कुमाऊं मंडल के अधीन थे
